Granny Connection’s support over the last 12 years has helped prevent new HIV infections and provide a comprehensive package of health care services to hundreds of HIV+ orphans and vulnerable children.
A few highlights and achievements are as follows:
· Survival rates for children are over 97% for the past 15 years.
· With PMTCT (Prevention of Mother to Child transmission) intervention and training provided to HIV+ pregnant women, 41/42 children were born HIV free.
· Training in HIV provided and women are encouraged to go in for testing which leads to HIV prevention.
· All school age children are in school.
· 550 children and their families are provided with a comprehensive package of health care services. A health care plan has been created for the 50 new children enrolled in October 2021.
For 2021 our plan is to:
· to improve health (via reduced inhalation of harmful smoke) provide clean cooking stoves to all families,
· launch a community wide adherence program for ages 14-24 years as this age group has the lowest rates of adherence to medication, and
· expand the program by adding 50 children.
